Wellcome, Today we are going to set aside the funny topics like the last one and we talk about contingency, the last weeks the catholic church has been involved in a number of allegations of pedophilia all over the world and our country Chile isn´t the exception. This week the TV program (Informe especial) show the testimony of young kids (now adults) abused by the priest Karadima, this is a deplorable case that affects the catholic church and causes, in my opinion, one of the larger crisis in the catholic church.
Maybe this isn´t the first case of abuses committed by catholic priest we all know about it, but unfortunately the congregations cover other cases sending priest to other places, and this is the most reprehensible in my opinion because the church must help the victims of the abuses and his families, and not to cover the facts and punish the priests involved.
There has been talk in the press about the celibacy and his absolution but I think that isn´t the correct way to avoid cases like this ones because we have cases of abuses in evangelic church and the evangelic shepards don´t practice the celibacy. This is a psycological behavior that depends of the person.
Now WHY this is a big crisis?? It´s because all the world talk about it and the Catholic church represented by the Pope must apologize, offer the help to those victims, give the respective punish and from now on be more selective in the seminars and submit to psychological tests to the future priest because the person who wants to become a priest not only need the vocation, they need a personality related with the responsability to be a priest. And the other thing that the catholic priest need it´s a organism that guard the priest´s movements to avoid cases like those mentioned.
The Catholic church has hundreds of years and this isn´t the first neither the last of the crisis, but while the Church may reinvent itself, with solutions like the ones that I say or others created by them, may continue with his mission.
